Inspiration
When we try to pick a fashion gift for our friends or family, we do not necessarily know what style they like, so we may end up giving them something they do not like at all. Instead of purchasing a gift card, we want to buy an actual item for them to show we are considerate and we put the effort to show we care about them. This leads to the question: how do we find the right style?
Our focus for this gift guide is to improve the personalization of gift-giving while tailoring it to those outside of the target demographic who are unfamiliar with online shopping or Aritzia products. Our current product is a quick and easy 4-step quiz that offers gift recommendations depending on who you are buying for, the event/occasion, color styles, and the type of item. The gift guide has the potential to expand this quiz, with more options and branches to get more accurate results, while still maintaining accessibility. We also value and recognize that Aritzia's success stems from both online and in-store sales, which is why our product integrates with the in-store experience. Results can be saved and later shown to sales associates to provide further assistance.
What it does
The gift guide system is to help people who are not familiar with fashion pick a gift of the right style for themselves, their family, or their friends. This project is built upon the existing Aritzia e-commerce website. It is a guide gift quiz for people to fill out and it will lead them to a tailored list of items based on their answers to the quiz.
How we built it
We built the front-end using React, Bootstrap, and React Router to create a multi-step quiz and present the results on a separate page. We created a small dataset, and used JavaScript to filter the dataset and obtain the recommendations based on answers to the quiz. Additionally, we used Figma to design the prototype and incorporate Aritzia's brand identity.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating Machine Learning Programs to filter through the Datasets
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a fully functional prototype to share and present
What we learned
