Inspiration
We are an interdisciplinary team of undergraduate students driven to make a social impact with background in business, engineering, healthcare and VR. Even as transplants, we take pride in our new "Sweet Home" and are committed to giving our talents back to the community while we are here. Alabama ranks in the bottom 5 in overall health rankings and bottom 10 in preventable death rates nationally. According to Forbes, Alabama's health access score, a measure assessing the population's ability to obtain medical resources was 2nd lowest behind Mississippi as of 2023. Virtual healthcare technology has significant potential to improve health outcomes in the state and nationally.
What it does
The GenHome Hub is a virtual healthcare platform where patients and providers can interact with one another in a secure and convenient manner. Our waiting room area, "The GenHome Living Room", is equipped with rooms to entertain, relax, and educate patients while they wait for their appointment. Providers can then invite their patient to the exam room when ready and after the visit consult with the patient's other providers in a passcode-locked meeting room.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Integration of Multiplayer where a player/physician can host a room for patient and provider-provider communication
- Included hugging face transformer in VR for speech recognition
- Created an NPC nurse powered by an LLM specifically focused on medical purposes to assist in health literacy
