Inspiration

We were inspired by our own feelings towards the topics of gender minorities in STEM, as minorities ourselves. There are many misconceptions about the gender gap and why there is a gender gap in the first place. We felt it was important to clear these up by displaying data we found online and data gathered from our peers.

What it does

Our interactive website will allow users to explore the Gender Gap in Tech. Learn about data, resources, the authors of the website, and even contribute their own experiences through a survey designed to collect and display data.

How we built it

We mainly used Python Flask to create our website. We collaborated with each other by sharing our code through Git Hub and practicing good teamwork.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we had some difficulty with installing Python Flask, however, after this, we were running smoothly. We ran into a couple of issues with the Survey feature, specifically the database and merge conflicts. However, we were able to overcome these and produce a finished product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the survey and our data visualization. As well as our ability to create a cohesive website that passes accessibility checking. Additionally, we are very proud of our ability to collaborate as a team.

What we learned

We learned about databases in SQLAlchemy, Python Flask, HTML, dataframes such as pandas, learned a lot more about github.

What's next for The Gender Gap in Tech

We would love to expand our survey feature to gather more information and display more information about the current pulse of gender minorities in Tech. We are very passionate about this subject and would love to spread more information about this important topic.
