The Gateway

Inspiration

We wanted to design a glove that could track your hand movements and would turn these into keystrokes

What it does

The gateway acts as a mouse without the user ever actually having to touch a mouse

How we built it

We first had to figure out the sensors we were going to use and we decided to go with a motion capture sensor. Then we decided to weave it into a glove using conductive thread.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge that we had was trying to keep prices down

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to get the number of total sensors down to 2 sensors, one on your dominant thumb and the second on your dominant index finger.

What we learned

We learned several interesting facts about the conductive thread and about an existing company called enflux that was designed to create wearable sensors for virtual reality

What's next for The Gateway

The next step for the gateway will be to implement augmented reality and virtual reality.
