Inspirations
Our project aims to to make airport gate waiting less stressful and more entertaining.
What it does
We have created a 3D interactive game where passengers control a character moving around the gate, collecting coins. These coins can then be used to play mini-arcade games, and winning tickets are redeemable for rewards at the gate. This transforms idle waiting time into fun while opening commercial opportunities for the airport.
How we built it
We built the project using Godot and Blender. Blender allowed us to create and modify detailed 3D models and assets for the airport gate and game environment, while Godot provided a lightweight, open-source engine with flexible 3D support. Using these tools, we programme character movement, coin collection, and arcade mini game mechanics , and integrated a ticket and reward system so in-game achievements could be redeemed for real world rewards. We tested extensively to ensure smooth, intuitive gameplay that is fun and engaging for passengers of all ages.
Challenges we ran into
- Balancing gameplay to be fun but not too complex for short waits.
