Inspiration : My inspiration comes from the timeless nature of war. In the ancient epic Mahabharata, horses symbolized the power and speed of warriors in battle. In the modern world, missiles have replaced those horses. By merging running horse legs with missile bodies, I wanted to show how warfare has evolved in form but not in spirit. The artwork reflects the continuing cycle of conflict from ancient times to the present.
What it does : This artwork visualizes the transformation of warfare from ancient mythology to modern technology. By combining the running legs of horses with missile bodies, it creates a symbolic representation of how the spirit of battle has evolved from traditional combat to advanced military power. The piece invites viewers to reflect on the continuity of conflict across time and the powerful forces that drive it.
How we built it : I began by sketching the concept of merging ancient and modern warfare. The lower part of the figures shows four running horse legs to symbolize speed, strength, and the spirit of ancient battles, inspired by the epic Mahabharata. The upper part transforms into missiles to represent modern military technology and contemporary conflicts.
After developing the concept, I composed the scene with a dynamic running motion and a strong saffron-toned sky to create an intense atmosphere of energy and movement. The final artwork was created by carefully combining symbolic elements, color, and motion to visually connect mythology with present-day global realities.
Challenges we ran into : The main challenge was combining two very different symbols—running horse legs and missiles—into one balanced form while keeping the motion and meaning clear. It was also challenging to visually connect ancient war symbolism inspired by the Mahabharata with the reality of modern warfare in a single composition. Choosing the right colors and movement to express intensity without making the artwork visually confusing was another important challenge during the creation process
Accomplishments that we're proud of : I am proud of successfully transforming a complex idea into a powerful visual form. By combining ancient war symbolism inspired by the Mahabharata with modern missile imagery, the artwork communicates how the nature of conflict evolves across time. The final piece captures motion, energy, and meaning in a single composition, allowing viewers to reflect on the continuity of war from past to present.
What we learned : Through this project, I learned how to transform a complex concept into a clear visual narrative. By combining ancient symbolism inspired by the Mahabharata with modern imagery, I explored how art can connect history, mythology, and contemporary global themes. I also learned the importance of balancing symbolism, composition, and color to communicate a strong message through visual storytelling.
What's next for The galloping storm : The next step for The Galloping Storm is to further develop the concept and present the artwork to a wider international audience through exhibitions and digital platforms such as Devpost. I plan to continue exploring the theme of ancient mythology meeting modern technology, creating more artworks that reflect the evolving nature of conflict and human history.
In the future, the project may also expand into a series that visually interprets themes inspired by the epic Mahabharata, connecting timeless stories with contemporary global realities
