Inspiration
We found that our whole group really had an appreciate for art in all it's forms. Art although is cool to see pictures of, it's a whole other experience to see it in-person at a museum. I visited Italy over the summer and got to see Van Gogh's Sunflower painting in person. It was such an amazing feeling which I hope that everyone can experience.
What it does
It is a 3D environment where a user can walk around and view different artworks in an immersive ambience. WASD keys to move around and use your mouse to look around.
How we built it
We built it in Unity using C#, Post-processing, Universal-Render pipeline, among other components within unity.
Challenges we ran into
A big part of what we wanted was for the graphics of the game to be realistic so it can be as immersive as possible. We had a big issue with shadows and light sources clipping and glitching out. We had to do quite a bit of research online and trail and error with different attributes and variables before we figure it out but it took us a hot minute.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The visuals and the overall atmosphere of the game really turned out well which is what we were hoping for.
What we learned
Not everyone on the team had worked with C# before so that was a decent learning curving getting everyone acclimated to that so we could all contribute to the project.
What's next for The Gallery in Grasp
We would love to add more art and more rooms with better ways of making the art truly come to life.
