A web app that helps us set reminders of our pets' medical appointments with vaccination dates and we have other cool features.

Inspiration

In Nepal, we don't have digital data storing for our pets' medical records. We have to write everything on paper and manually have to set reminders for the next vaccination dates. I faced a similar problem and thought this could be the start of solving the problem.

What it does

It helps you set a reminder of your pets' vaccination dates and sends you an SMS the day prior to the vaccination date(done that using the Hackathon's sponsor, Twilio).

How we built it

We used React and SCSS (for frontend) and FAST API (for backend).

Challenges we ran into

A LOT OF BUGS. But since we're enjoyed the process and made new friends, it was all worth it. ;) :D

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was Sid's first time using React, Rojen's first time using FAST API, and Pratik's first time using SCSS. We enjoyed learning new technologies and making a strong bond too. Project wise: We're proud of what we made regardless of the bugs. :)

What we learned

There was a point where we ALMOST gave up and decided not to show up at the hackathon. But we decided to give our best. Well, Sid had to take a one-hour nap because he faced a headache and Rojen & Pratik were equally drained but, we never gave up and put our 100%.

What's next for The Furry Buddy

The developers are gonna get a GOOD NIGHT's sleep first :P. 1) Community: We are planning to add a community section where pet owners can help each other. Say, for instance, someone lost their dog. He/She can post in the community section and everyone will be notified nearby. 2) Recipe for Pets' Foods: We were planning to add this in the v1 but unfortunately, time wasn't on our side. However, here a pet owner can upload his/her favorite pets' dish. Others can 'favorite' the dish and even reply by asking about the benefits of the ingredients. 3) VET NEAR ME and LIVE CHAT: This will be a crucial feature as we might face an emergency and rush our furry friend to nearby vets. This feature will automatically alert all the nearby vets and if a vet is available, then the pet's owner will get a call immediately after the vet is ready.

WE ARE PLANNING TO MAKE THIS THE NEXT BIG THING IN THE PET INDUSTRY. woof woof.
