Inspiration
We want LGBTQIA+ music artists to be spotlighted more!
What it does
With our web app, users can find new LGBTQIA+ artists and their albums by typing in a genre they're interested in. Users can also add additional keywords if they're interested in filtering the search results. A historical blurb about the artist will also be shown so the user can learn more about them beyond their music.
Challenges we ran into
Spotify's authentication tokens definitely proved to be a huge challenge for our original idea. We had to make a dummy Spotify account to even scrape any album info!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For some of us, this was our first hackathon! We are also an interdisciplinary team comprised of computer science, psychology, and organizational studies students!
Also, we all learned how to use Git and GitHub as a team and collaborate well together and showed each other new tools. We ended up learning a lot!
