Inspiration

We derived a lot of our ideas from the food pyramid, hence the name. We also took inspiration from dungeon crawler video games.

What it does

It is a dungeon-style RPG where you must avoid food-based enemies in a maze, find the power-up to get to the next level, and get to the stairs to continue.

How we built it

We used Construct3 for the map design and coding, PixilArt for the sprites, and Audacity for the music. 1 person did the sprites, 1 person did the music, 2 people did the map design, and 1 person did the coding.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble understanding how to make the characters move without making the background a solid. It was also difficult to learn a new way of coding and then make a game in 24 hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how the pixel art turned out since it was our first time making pixel art, and we are proud of our coding, since we had to learn it in a short period of time.

What we learned

We learned how to use a new coding software (Construct3) and we learned about what goes into pixel animation.

What's next for The Food Pyramid

A finished game with 5 total levels and a final boss, as we currently only have a demo with the first 2 levels.
