Inspiration
The safety of students is always fluctuating when travelling through public transport. Through this app, we can bring our communities back together between schools and districts! This app was inspired by the transit app on the accessibility to bus routes, but includes a collaboration system for the assurance of fellow students. SafeBuddy decreases the chances of harm on students by predators and other incidents through student identification and institutional authentication.
What it does
This app allows students to partner up with someone who uses the same/similar routes to and fro school, enhancing their safety through the buddy system.
How we built it
We used three separate languages: HTML, Javascript, and Python to initiate this project.
Challenges we ran into
Finding a way to store the data without using Node.js
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managing to read a .json file from Javascript without Node.js
What we learned
We learned about saving data to files in our code. We can use this to store information that we get from our website
What's next for The Five
What we need to do next is try and link this website to other universities and schools. After that we have to make sure the data can be put into a file using Node.js or some other way to update the file.
