Inspiration
We wanted to combine the two themes of a limited space game and improving financial literacy.
What it does
It is a fun escape-room style game that teaches children and young adults financial literacy skills. Players must get a perfect score on a financial literacy quiz in order to escape. In future iterations, there will be hints/study materials for the player to find and learn the appropriate information to pass the quiz.
How we built it
We used Godot and some packs on itch.io for aesthetic purposes.
Challenges we ran into
The entire team has had no previous experience working with Godot. As a result, it was quite a steep learning curve at the beginning to be able to create anything in the Godot. We also had many issues with merging branches in Git because of our unfamiliarity with GDScript and structure.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of having made something that the user can actually use and play with!
What we learned
We improved our understanding of Git and the flow of it. We also learned a lot about Godot such as animations, collisionshapes and the logic behind connections
What's next for The Finance Redemption Bunker
As stated above in what it does, we want to add hints/study materials for the player to find and learn the appropriate information to pass the quiz. We also want to add more levels so that it gets challenging and keeps players wanting to learn more about smartly managing their finances.
