Inspiration
We were inspired by our personal encounters with hate speech online.
What it does
Our site provides statistics for various websites on how they have dealt with the issue over the years.
How we built it
We built the site using an HTML, CSS, and Javascript repl.it template.
Challenges we ran into
We ran in to a predicament in which we could not get the tables to show the accurate statistics once clicked or the charts would not show up.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our use of various sites and sources for our data.
What we learned
We learned that hate speech is far harder to track on large social networking services.
What's next for The Extent of Online Hate Speech
We believe that hate speech will continue to evolve and therefore slip under the radar, requiring more advanced algorithms to track it.
