Inspiration
The Elf of Geneseo, Episode II was born from profound personal loss and enduring love. It is a tribute to my niece, Sunyifeng, who passed away at just 17—a life full of promise, remembered through poetry, music, and visual storytelling. The song is also a tribute to my wife, who is the heart of my life, blending grief and devotion into a deeply shared emotional journey. Drawing from the classical Chinese text 《洛神赋》, the piece reimagines ancient beauty and longing through a modern lens, blending epic poetry with pop sensibility.
What it does
This male duet is a multi-layered artistic experience:
- Musically, it fuses poetic lyrics with pop melodies, creating a love song that feels timeless and cinematic.
- Visually, the MV (music video) evokes ethereal beauty, mythic landscapes, and emotional resonance.
- Emotionally, it serves as a memorial and a love letter—preserving memory, expressing grief, and celebrating connection.
- Culturally, it bridges East and West, ancient and modern, personal and universal.
How we built it
The creation process was a blend of technical precision and emotional storytelling:
- Lyrics & Translation: I adapted 《洛神赋》 using Google Translate and ChatGPT to modernize and personalize the poetic language.
- Music Composition: Suno.com helped generate the instrumental foundation, while Audacity was used for mixing and mastering the duet vocals.
- Visual Production: Filmora and Photoshop shaped the MV’s aesthetic, with AI tools like CivitAI.com, pika.art, and hedra.com enhancing visual effects and character design.
- Voice & Animation: gentube.app contributed to voice synthesis and animated storytelling, bringing the Elf of Geneseo to life.
Challenges we ran into
- Emotional Weight: Translating grief into art without losing authenticity was a delicate balance.
- Tool Integration: Coordinating multiple AI platforms—each with its own quirks—required careful planning and iteration.
- Cultural Adaptation: Preserving the essence of 《洛神赋》 while making it accessible to a global audience was both a linguistic and artistic challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- A moving tribute that honors Sunyifeng’s memory with grace and beauty.
- A technically sophisticated MV that showcases my cross-disciplinary skills—from AI orchestration to visual storytelling.
- A poetic bridge between classical Chinese literature and modern pop music, executed with emotional depth and artistic flair
What we learned
- AI can amplify emotion, not just automate tasks—when guided by human intention and care.
- Creative synergy matters: blending tools like ChatGPT, Suno, and Filmora unlocked new dimensions of expression.
- Personal stories resonate: the more specific and heartfelt the narrative, the more universally it connects.
