Inspiration
We wanted to make a place where students could start their understanding with the Periodic Table of Elements. Since when we were younger, we found the table to be intimidating. Including games and characters make the project more appealing to younger people.
What it does
Our project gives an introduction to the Periodic Table of Elements in a fun way, using a lesson with a character, games, and a mini quiz.
How we built it
We built this project using Scratch.
Challenges we ran into
In the games, it was a bit of a challenge to make the platformer work because of the controls.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we managed to have three parts to teach others, a lesson that will give the thought of the Periodic Table of Elements a good touch.
What we learned
We learned that being more interactive can make projects more captivating for kids, instead of them sitting through lectures where they feel they are not involved.
What's next for The Elements of Science
We plan to add this to a website, and include more resources on it. We would also like to add more games, as well as a more challenging level.
