## Inspiration
I'm a long-time fan of sci-fi books and horror films, and for me, The Door was a chance to take my creativity to the next level. I drew inspiration from visionary directors like Christopher Nolan, David Lynch, and Alfred Hitchcock, storytellers who know how to twist perception and build suspense in unexpected ways.
## What it does
The Door is a short AI-generated film that tells the story of a man caught between timelines, promises, and reality. It combines surreal imagery, cinematic pacing, and psychological tension to explore themes of time, guilt, and redemption - all driven by a father’s desperate journey to make it home.
## How we built it
It started with an original script I wrote from scratch. I used AI image-generation tools to develop a storyboard and set the visual tone. From there, I created the soundtrack using Suno, drawing inspiration from 1980s sci-fi series. I brought scenes to life with a range of tools - including Kling, Midjourney, and others- and did all the editing in CapCut. Voiceovers were added using ElevenLabs to complete the cinematic feel.
Challenges we ran into
Translating a personal vision into a visual narrative using AI wasn’t always smooth. Achieving visual consistency, maintaining camera logic, and keeping emotional continuity across scenes required a lot of trial, error, and creative problem-solving. But each obstacle pushed the film closer to what I imagined.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of creating a fully AI-produced short film that doesn’t feel artificial. Every frame was a deliberate choice, and despite the tools being generative, the storytelling was always human. This film is a true blend of heart, tech, and vision.
What we learned
I learned that with the right tools and mindset, AI can empower indie creators to produce ambitious projects that once required massive budgets. Most importantly, I discovered how capable I am of turning a cinematic idea into something real.
What's next for The Door
Who knows? This might just be the beginning. Maybe one day The Door will evolve into a full-length film - or even something bigger. For now, the door is open.
