Inspiration
I live in a city well known for being dirty. Because of this, restrooms are doggedly guarded by business owners, and public bathrooms are hard to come by. I learned when I first moved here that you could buy a $5 spreadsheet from some influencer that had all the best bathrooms in the city – a truly philanthropic venture. So I thought to myself, what if I was that but evil?
I think some of the most memorable experiences of bathrooms are actually of the worst ones: the stinky, toilet paper barren, no stall door, wet floor places that make us lose faith in humanity. And it bonds us to strangers when we see them walk out of a restroom, waving a hand in front of their nose, telling us, "Do NOT go in there."
What it does
Do Not Go in There is like Yelp for really bad bathrooms. Users can share their reviews of the worst bathrooms in their cities or towns, rate them based on things like cleanliness, and share a little about their experience in these terrible restrooms.
How we built it
I created the app using Bolt.
Challenges we ran into
As someone with no coding experience, I was stumped by some of the issues around location API. However, once Bolt flagged them, the app quickly came up with solutions and guided me through the process of fixing them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I've never built anything like this before! It was super fun to be able to create something functioning like this, especially when I have no experience coding.
What we learned
Coding hard... AI make it more accessible....
What's next for Do Not Go In There App
I hope to get my friends to contribute to it and build a list of all the worst bathrooms in my city!
