About the Project
The Decision Matrix is an AI-powered foresight tool that simulates future outcomes of life decisions, helping users choose with clarity by comparing “Do It” vs “Don’t Do It” scenarios and minimizing future regret.
Inspiration
We've all faced decisions that keep us up at night — whether to take a job offer, move cities, or go back to school. Most of us make these choices with incomplete information, gut feelings, and uncertainty.
This project was inspired by a simple idea: what if you could explore possible futures before committing to a decision? By simulating outcomes, users can move from fear-driven choices to clarity-driven decisions.
Problem
People make important life decisions without clear visibility into long-term consequences. This often leads to anxiety, indecision, and regret. There is no structured way to preview how different choices might unfold over time.
What it does
The Decision Matrix allows users to simulate two possible futures for any decision:
- “Do It” — what life may look like if action is taken
- “Don’t Do It” — what happens if no action is taken
Users can select a timeframe (1 month, 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years), and the AI generates structured, realistic scenarios for both paths.
Each simulation includes:
- Emotional and practical outcomes
- Short-term vs long-term consequences
- A Regret Score (0–100) based on psychological friction and opportunity cost
- A final AI Verdict recommending the better path
All simulations are saved to a history log, allowing users to revisit and reflect on past decisions.
Example: Decision: “Should I quit my job to freelance?”
- “Do It”: Freedom, growth, but unstable income
- “Don’t Do It”: Stability, slower growth, potential regret
- AI Verdict: Recommends the optimal path based on long-term satisfaction vs risk
How we built it
This project was built entirely using MeDo, without traditional coding:
- Defined the concept using natural language prompts
- Iteratively refined UI and logic through multi-turn chat and the visual editor
- Generated a full React + TypeScript frontend
- Integrated AI simulation logic through MeDo’s full-stack capabilities
- Deployed instantly to a live public URL
The entire development process — from idea to deployment — was completed within MeDo.
Challenges we ran into
- UI conflicts: Hover states from Shadcn components overrode custom styles, fixed using hover:bg-transparent
- Prompt design: Iterating prompts to produce consistent, structured, and meaningful AI outputs
- Design balance: Creating a premium, trustworthy UI without overcomplicating the user experience
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a practical tool that addresses real-life decision-making
- Designed a clean, premium dark UI with strong usability
- Created a unique Regret Index system to quantify decision outcomes
- Implemented full history tracking for reflection
- Delivered a complete full-stack application with zero manual coding
What we learned
- The power of iterative AI-driven development using MeDo
- The importance of combining emotional storytelling with functional design
- How UI simplicity improves user trust in AI tools
- The need to test using the live deployed version, not just previews
What's next for The Decision Matrix
- Probability weighting for more personalized simulations
- Side-by-side comparison of multiple decisions
- Sharing simulations for feedback and discussion
- Mobile app for on-the-go decision making
- Memory system to adapt to user preferences over time
The Decision Matrix transforms uncertainty into insight — helping users make decisions they won’t regret.
