Need help making connections at coffee chats? Finding it difficult to think of conversation ideas in the business world? The Daily Grind is here to help you improve your networking!

Our project compares your LinkedIn platform with a selected user's, informs you of commonalities and factors that make the other user unique. Additionally, you can add extra context to prompt useful questions, so that you can add special topics to bring up in your coffee chat!

What it does

The Daily Grind enhances your networking experience by analyzing LinkedIn profiles to generate personalized conversation starters. It identifies shared experiences, skills, and interests, and highlights unique aspects of each individual's background. Users can also provide additional context to refine these suggestions, making coffee chats more engaging and tailored to each connection.

How we built it

Our design was created using Figma. The backend was built using Python and a LinkedIn API was used to obtain our data. We used Gemini AI API to generate information using the users' LinkedIn profiles that would be relevant to coffee chats and networking. The frontend was built using React.js, Tailwind.css and Material UI.

Challenges we ran into

We explored using RapidAPI to access LinkedIn data, but the free tier only allowed 50 requests, which severely limited our ability to test and refine our approach. This forced us to optimize our API usage and explore alternative methods to extract relevant information. Additionally, developing a functional prototype within the hackathon timeframe required efficient collaboration. We had to balance implementing core functionalities while ensuring a polished user experience.
