Inspiration

Each and every one of our members has had to use crutches for various reasons. We all agreed that the design was impractical and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, people with knee surgeries have never had a choice, and needed to use them. We wanted to change that, and at the very least, give people more options for the post-operation recovery.

What it does

Our device is a prosthetic leg, made for people recovering from knee injuries. After surgery, no weight can be placed on the knee for up to 2 weeks. Our device attaches to the patient's hip, displacing all force away from their knee.

How we built it

We used Fusion 360 and lots of paper to design our Prototype.

Challenges we ran into

Since we are all freshmen, our main challenge was Fusion. None of us had any experience in Fusion, and we started this challenge by watching Fusion tutorials for Beginners.

What we learned

We have learned not only about fusion, but also about the design process as a whole. It has been a truly humbling experience to see what it's like to build something from the ground up, but we are excited to further test our skills in later challenges.

What's next for The Criller

We would like to keep working on our design and eventually bring a real physical prototype to the world to see if our idea is truly viable!
