Inspiration

I've been consulting/ implementing ITIL Processes such as Incident Management at large enterprises for over 10 years. I have tremendous experience building processes and systems that effectively and efficiently handle scenarios that require data gathering and back office processing for incident resolution.

My background in Incident Management has allowed me to arrive at a prototype and process solution for COVID-19 case handling using the ITILv3 methodology.

What it does

The app onboards the citizen user smoothly and with authentication in place ensuring that their name, age and where they live is captured.This avoid repetitive input of this standard info.

Aside from the app directing users to official public information already available, the app also allows a citizen user to perform assessments, submit them and track them. When performing assessment, the app captures data about where they have been, who they were in touch with so that COVID-19 Crisis teams can use this information for investigations and communication. Location Services is turned on ensuring that further tracking is made to aid investigations.

When the citizen user submits their assessment, the data is sent to a COVID-19 centralized team for Level 2 investigation and routing. If the citizen is deemed high risk and high priority, the incident will be routed to Level 3 - a COVID-19 transportation unit (911, 3rd Party or even the Military) for the safe transportation of the infected citizen to a COVID-19 treatment facility. This approach of having safe transportation in place will stabilize and make it safer for the community and prevent the spread of the disease en route to a hospital if the infected patient decided to take a taxi, public transit, and other forms of transportation.

I'm confident that the app has the potential to alleviate the definite overload on the healthcare system as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to escalate.

Challenges I ran into

Requirements gathering to understand the COVID-19 triage process of cases. So I invented a simple and practical solution.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Built the prototype in 24 hours. Received feedback from the Police Department, Local Politicians, Engineers across the world including Australia, Asia, North America.

What I learned

Having your voice heard/supported of an innovation that can help contain the virus and help citizens is very difficult.
