Inspiration
We wanted to revitalize our childhood imaginations with a classic Choose Your Own Adventure with technological advancements.
What it does
Our project is a very user friendly website where it brings the user through a story map. The user is able to decide what happens next and each decision brings the user to a different outcome. This is continued throughout the plot and the user is displayed the end result, determining if they succeeded or lost.
How we built it
We used Java and CSS and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge was figuring out the counter system with each input from the user. We weren’t sure how to display the points along with each continuation of pages. We ended up leaving out the counter, and solely displayed the result of the player for that round.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to get to our designated end result of this project. As we tackled different obstacles and went through the process of learning new languages and application skills, we were able to get the front-end, and especially the back-end to work well with our plan. This allowed us to create a user friendly website that comes with an interactive aspect, which was our main goal for creating a project under the digital dreamers track.
What we learned
Through the process of building this project, we were able to further expand our experiences and knowledge regarding a user-based environment. To ensure this was successful, we also went through further developing our skills with Javascript, CSS, and HTML. Cooperating with team members definitely assisted in our collaboration skills along with our technical skills. We realized the importance of following through with our plan and taking risks throughout.
What's next for The Consequences of Your Own Actions (A CYOA Game)
We plan on using generative AI for the images as well as extending the choices and storyline.
