Inspiration
I am a big fan of geopolitics and history, and love to binge watch stories of revolts and uprisings. However, most creators only cover the most popular such events. Also, with a creator its a one-way communication, and its very hard to ask questions with the context of the video and the event. This made me think of the system which covers any and all stories, can generate a story on any topic within minutes and also lets us ask questions
What it does
It uses perplexity's sonar-pro API to get the information from all over the internet, this information is then processed by gemini models and a story is written on it
How we built it
I built the frontend using react-native to ensure compatibility with web, android and iOS as well, this gives us a wide audience. The backend is built using python so that we can use whatever LLM-focused libraries we wish to
Challenges we ran into
Its quite a minimal system, so there were not a lot of challenges, except I did not know react-native before this, so wrestling with code agents was definitely a challenge
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I made the entire app within 48 hours, so that's something i am quite happy about. However, I did spend months on studying about different RAG systems and KAG systems, to make sure that i come up with the best possible approach
What we learned
I learned a lot about RAG, KAG, and other parallel approaches, it was also quite surprising to see the sonar API work, it quite frequently surpassed expectations
What's next for The Complete Story
I want to change the system from a linear workflow to a Knowledge-Graph based one, this way the LLM would be able to act like an agent and discover interesting stories, patterns and provide insights which are other wise not available directly on the internet. Also, i want to change it, from a text only app to a podcast app, that way people can use it while stuck in traffic jams, or during boring lectures too :)
