Inspiration

This project is inspired by countless sources that trace back to my adolescence and youth. From the BMW Films series starring Clive Owen, to The Warriors with its radio announcer narrating the odyssey home, to car-chase classics, Independence Day, Men in Black, and many more. All those references blend together here. In this short film lives every piece of cinema I once dreamed of creating, but which was technically impossible back then. Today, I finally can.

What it does

I hope what it does is keep you glued to your seat during the chases, leave you stunned by the plot twist, and have you cheering and laughing at the film’s ending.

How we built it

By prompting and constantly restructuring the prompts to achieve the goal, I refined images generated in MidJourney and the Freepik suite using tools like Nano Banana and Seedream. For the videos, I relied mostly on Veo 3, with some input from Minimax and Kling. Voices were produced with ElevenLabs, while the music was composed in Suno.

Challenges we ran into

Obtaining side-shot images with parallel backgrounds and no visual escape routes is often a challenge. Thanks to Nano Banana and Seedream, the short film has managed to maintain consistency in the character, the car, and the ship. Just two months ago, this would have been impossible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud to have created a short film that is thrilling, consistent, mischievous, and full of rhythm. But now, it’s up to you to judge it.

What we learned

I’ve learned to be more methodical with prompts, to get exactly what I wanted from Nano Banana and Seedream, and to improvise when what I envisioned proved impossible to achieve. The entire short has been a learning process that will make the next one even better.

What's next for The Chase

I hope The Chase finds its way through festivals in the coming months. The next step is a longer feature film set in the American Wild West.
