Inspiration
When we came up with our project we had 2 things in mind:
- There is a need to educate people about the history of LGBTQIA+ icons.
- There was a distinct lack of books that represent LGBTQIA+ communities.
What it does
We made a game to solve the First Problem. In the game, you play as a Librarian who sets on a journey to fill their Library with books representing big LGBTQIA+ icons from history. To do this, they set on a journey to find, interview, and research those icons both dead and alive.
How we built it
We built this game on Unreal Engine.
Challenges we ran into
We are a team of 2 working on Unreal Engine for the First Time. We followed a lot of tutorials to prepare for this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to start a great game concept that we want to continue in the future. We are excited to learn more about Unreal Engine and adding advanced storylines and minigames.
What we learned
In the making of this project, we did a lot of research about famous icons from the past. We plan to implement them all in our game.
What's next for The Catcher and the Rye-ghts
We plan to finish this game and publish it on Steam so that people all around the world can also learn more about these famous icons and their lives.
