I always wonder how hard it is to contact people or relatives when you meet an accident. You are sometimes able to contact your relatives, but sometimes you were not in condition to do that if the accident is serious. So the drives can drive without any worries. So we build this project to solve this major problem.
What it does ❓
This is a Hardware and Software integrated project that stresses on providing post rash assistance to the passengers of a vehicle. The hardware part consists of a Bluetooth module, along with the microcontroller that is connected to the impact sensors of the vehicle, which is paired with the mobile phone of the passenger. As soon as the sensors detect a collision and the airbags are deployed, the flutter app installed on the user's mobile receives a signal from the Bluetooth and automatically sends the user data and the user's current location to the user's closed ones and the emergency services.
How we built it 🔧🔨🧰
Mostly, the whole application is coded with the help of flutter using dart. But some minor components like connecting are written in java. As for IOT, we have used components like Arduino, Embedded C, Hc-05, Bluetooth module, etc
Challenges we ran into 🏃♂️❌
The challenges we ran into are mentioned below :: -
1. Integrating the hardware with the mobile application
2. Flutter inspector of android studio broke down, and it delayed the project progress by a huge margin
3. Adding Bluetooth features required a lot of research into the Bluetooth packages,
4 Using shared preferences instead of Firebase to increase app's performance in case of emergency became an intense coding work. It's our first software and hardware project, and we were nervous, but we are really happy with the results.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
We are proud of ourselves that we were able to contribute together to this project and able to complete this with 48hrs. We both worked very hard to achieve this result.
What we learned 🧠
We learned technologies like java, dart and flutter. We were also able to learn concepts of IOT and how to make a hybrid project with both have software and hardware. Furthermore, we were able o learn how to code Arduino and connect it with mobile application.
What's next for The C-A-R-S(Car Assist and Rescue System) ⏭
We would work on this project more to make the hardware part more compact and small so that it can fit anywhere with better equipment. Then we would love to share about our project with others to gain feedback and improve.
