Inspiration

I was inspired partially by the disconnect from people that I am experiencing in this lock down. What really impacted me was watching some of my neighbors come together to help each other. Watching younger neighbors help the elderly by bringing them their goods, even when they lack some themselves, was truly inspiring and heart-melting. I wanted to be able to create a place for people to meet like that, based on their location.

What it does

This website will take in a user's zip code and bring them to a blog for people within their area. They will have the ability to chat with neighbors, make posts, and spread positivity.

How I built it

I built this using HTML and CSS. I do not, at this time, have the ability to make it fully functioning as I cannot get a database.

Challenges I ran into

My biggest challenge was the database, which I still am unable to overcome unfortunately.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of having participated in this hackathon in the first place.

What I learned

I surveyed some potential users and found out that a sense of community is one of the most important things when it comes to a time of crisis - it can really benefit people's mental health.

What's next for The Bulletin Board

The Bulletin Board will be updated to be fully functional and then launched. This will allow neighbors to grow close and develop a tight-knit community.
