The Briefing
By Vandan Gohil and Rishit Bhojak
Time is one of the most important assets in our life. Doesn’t matter whether you’re a student, a professor, an employee or an entrepreneur. We all value TIME, and losing it might be the biggest blunder one can ever make. Thus , to help you with utilizing your time well and manage it efficiently and avoid unnecessary chaos, we built The Briefing!
The app fetches news data from NewsAPI and displays you the results based on the filters applied by us. It displays the title of the news , a brief description , the author, dat and time of publishing and a 'Read More' at button to redirect you to the source and hence, the user can read the entire news if he/she finds the news interesting. Also , the Hamburger Menu provides the facility to navigate through different categories of news from various sectors
The Briefing is built using ReactJS and MaterialUI for the UI Components and CSS for styling
One of the most challenging parts was to put together up the Title , Description, Author, Date and Time altogether. The Date and Time encodings provided by the NewsAPI were quite difficult for us to understand as beginners. Also, we could not figure out why after hosting, the app does not load the content. However, it runs smoothly on localhost. We are yet to figure out this bug.
Throughout this hackathon, we were able to combine basic design and development principles for this app. Also, we learnt how to fix various bugs when it comes to rendering UI components in React
