The Battle of Moores Creek is a lesser known but important event in the early days of the American Revolution. Its 250th anniversary is in February 2026. To mark that, the American Battlefield Trust asked Parks Channel Productions to work with its historians to recreate the battle using AI re-enactments for the first time ever.

What it does

Our trailer shows the level of quality and factual accuracy achieved, working with the state-of-the-art AI tools.

How we built it

Our ABT historian compiled a detailed list of historical references for all elements in the film, as well as references for the key characters. We then used Veo, Nano Banana, Kling and ElevenLabs to bring the story to life.

Challenges we ran into

Current LLMs had a very difficult time with several critical elements of our story. The Battle of Moores Creek was the last recorded instance of the Highland Charge, a specific tactic that features an all-out assault with basket-hilt broadswords. The AI tools had a really hard time understanding the concept of a hand inside a metal basket, holding a hilt. In addition, during this period of history all the combatants were clean-shaven. AI consistently added facial hair and incorrect uniforms to group shots.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are especially proud of the intense battle scenes that were achieved for this project.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the limitations of LLMS, particularly for this period of history.

What's next for The Bridge of Defiance

The film will debut on the 250th anniversary of the battle. We are entering it in film festivals and expect to have a screening on the battlefield itself in February.
