Inspiration
Our inspirtation for our game came from when we saw that there was a VR Headset on the hardware list, we were all enthralled to see that, wanting to make a VR game right from the get go.
What it does
Our game takes you through a maze in Virtual Reality, using the Oculus Rift, you go through a long and twisting maze, blocks in every corridor, clicking the wrong one will bring you back to the beginning of the game, but there is one correct one with a satisfying text popup.
How we built it
We built it using a game design program called "Unity", looking up Youtube Tutorials, getting help from the mentors all around, as well as learning some things on our own, a fun experience.
Challenges we ran into
Our first challenge was what we wanted to make into a VR game. Our first idea was to make an exercise game, where you would be instructed to do exercises based off what pictures were shown for an amount of time. This turned out to be out of our reach, so after some brainstorming and relaxing, we finally came up with an idea to build a maze, a simple yet thrilling idea, so we got to work and ended up here.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
That we got to use VR! None of us have ever touched something so futuristic as this, it was like entering another world.
What we learned
We learned how to set up any landscape in Unity into VR ready, walking around and sight seeing all around. We also learned how to use more parts of unity, like how to trigger events so specifc things happen.
What's next for The Boring Maze
To fix most of the problems, maybe make it less boring, probably bump it up to "The Average Maze"
