The Big 6 project

Inspiration

What inspired us as a team was the first look we got on Linux operating system in the first semester specifically in ISE , which stole our attention and got us interested , leading to asking the questions, what other open source projects are there ? How do they work exactly? What benefits do we obtain of them?

What it does

This project insures a very delicate introduction along with a well built structure on the basis of open source projects, making YOU as a reader or a listener interested and thus asking questions, which we also made sure that by the end of the presentation will all be answered.

How we built it

To build such project we had to form a good structured plan giving each member of the team a role based on the skills they have , since the project itself consists of 2 parts, a PowerPoint presentation and a website , we devided our team into two trios , three were trusted with the web and the other three made the PowerPoint presentation. Insuring a fair work distribution making sure each member participates in the project.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of challenges building this project first was within our team , as most of us did not wanna work on the web as it is rather something new and somewhat sounds difficult which leads us to the second challenge we faced which was that none of us had any experience developing a web before so we had to learn from the very beginning, all of this was also during the exams period which was a really bad timing considering most of us were focused on doing good at the exams to make sure we don't end up going through the resit exams or even repeat a year , which didn't give us much time to work on the project. There was many other challenges from minor ones to major ones but alhamdoulilah we managed to overcome them and offer you the fruits of the seeds we planted nd took care of inshallah.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working on this project , we did not just accomplish so much in the little time we had , but we also learned many valuable skills , informations and even traits, i myself getting into this had no idea of how to code a web or anything to do with websites except a little bit of backround on html , but now i can comfortably code using HTML , CSS and JavaScript which im really proud of , and as for the other team members each of them learned and achieved many things doing what they were assigned to do , and i think this the beauty of it , we got into this project complaining about how much work we have to do , but here we are proud wha we achieved and thriving to learn even more.

What we learned

Through this short journey we learned many lessons, life lessons, from time management which a crucial skill to have as a computer science student , teamwork as i believe with all certainty that all that we achieved would not have been achieved if it weren't for the team members i shared with. We also came to realize that communication is a big key to success and solving problems.

What's next for The Big 6 project

For now there's nothing on the radar as most members are focused on their academic status making sure they pass to the next year but we will make sure to keep you updated on any new ideas.
