Inspiration 🚀🔥
Our inspiration was Grammarly and the All In Open Source community (The Goal to provide equal opportunities to everyone!), We thought why should we not make a product that helps developers from underrepresented groups, a chance, a chance to contribute to open source and a key to knowledge, that's how we got the idea for the website and extension of *The All Inclusive Tool - AIT *, that transforms any sentence that isn't inclusive into an inclusive sentence, for Github, daily.dev, or any coding platform! After thinking about reasons why we should not build this, we found none.
What it does 🏗️🔥
- Transform sentences that are non-inclusive into inclusive sentences, if you're writing pull requests, documentation, code, whatever it is!, it's gonna help you!
- Gives an opportunity to write and read blogs.
- Lists contributors with whom, underrepresented groups can collaborate.
- Lists all the open-source projects on GitHub with an 'open-source' label allowing to contribute to them!
How we built it 👷🏻🏗️
- We used GEMINI API to translate non-inclusive sentences into inclusive sentences.
- We used TinyMCE to write blog content.
- We used MongoDB to store whole data.
- We used ReactJS, HTML, CSS and tailwind for the website!
Challenges we ran into 🤚🏻🚫
1.) We woke up just a bit late when 10-11 hours were remaining. 2.) Had other stuff to do as well, and auth0 gave up at the end moment 3.) And of course errors, for which we had to brainstorm our brains. 4.) The Extension uses Shadow Root and we were stuck in a lot of "easy" issues for a long duration
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆🔥
- We are proud that we were able to at least finish a part of the project (We are naming it Phase I) and Phase II to continue after the hackathon ends.
- We are also proud that we got this golden opportunity to work on an amazing project this weekend!
What we learned 📖🧠
- We learned about TinyMCE, managing time, MongoDB and managing colour themes :).
- How to use Gemini API (or any other AI for that matter) in a real-world use case.
What's Next for The Inclusive Tool 🚀📈
1.) AIT is awaiting a Phase-II update after the hackathon ends that will have: - better AI support. - Leaderboard - Badges - Achievements - AI Algorithm to support underrepresented groups with more opportunities.
2.) AIT is awaiting a Phase-III update to scale this project even wider :)
Thanks MLH for the golden opportunity, and we thank each other for supporting throughout the project!
