The AI Dungeon Master

Inspiration

Our teams inspiration for our AI Dungeon Master was that many players of the popular game "Dungeons and Dragons" do not wish to play the game due to the long set up time and finding a person to be the Game Master, and so we decided to create this in order to remove this process, allowing players to head straight into the adventure and enjoy the game they love to the fullest!

What it does

Our AI Dungeon Master uses rasberry pi to provide an AI voice that functions as a "Game Master" for dungeons and dragons, which has adventures fed into it to allow it to create an immersive experience that players can play through and storys they may have never experienced before.

How we built it

We built this by using Snowflake database, which we used API keys to access the database through open router. This connects to a react front-end which also has its own API for eleven labs voices.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into was the rasberry pi's incompatibiltiy with our devices, as it would not connect to any of the laptops we had on hand. Another challenge we faced were API keys inability to work properly, including Gemini and Eleven Labs (which had terrible documentation).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact we were able to produce this project in such a short amount of time, using API's that we had never used before and which, before this weekend, had no idea how to properly incorporate into a project. We are also proud of our use of the rasberry pi, which before this weekend only one person in our 4 man team had experience with or even knew about. Another achievement we are extremely proud of is the fact that our group incorporated all resources available, making us eligible for every prize in the prize pool.

What we learned

We learnt how to work a rasberry pi, which we never knew how to use before (aside one team member), and we learnt how to incorporate numerous api's into our project, of which we also never knew how to use effectively before.

What's next for The AI Dungeon Master

The next steps for our AI Dungeon Master is to have it available for all games that need a "Dungeon Master" and not just Dungeons and Dragons, and even allowing players to place in their own story they created that they may wish to play through.
