Inspiration

The key issues with social media today are: followers' thoughts are manipulated by influencers, the social environment is chaotic, user privacy is disregarded, and users are distracted by useless information. Furthermore, with the increasing number of public chains, each with its own unique functions, social capital is decentralized but with restricted circulation. Neither users nor creators benefit from this, making Web3 less user-friendly than Web2.

What it does

  1. Agora is a social protocol with smart contracts deployed on Fantom to provide a seamless experience like web2.
  2. Creators are properly incentivized to deliver quality content and share platform revenues.
  3. Data ownership and marketplace: profiles own contents and can turn them into NFTs to trade.
  4. Open integration: Agora is open to integrating other major DID protocols with one-click migration.

How we built it

We took Lens Protocol as a reference, then we built our own social protocols. Our social protocol fixed many issues from Lens but inherited its decentralization. Fixed issues including fair content distribution, other DID protocol integration, content creator monetization, stake to boost/bet on content, and a reputation system.

Challenges we ran into

We find it hard to revise the lens protocol in the beginning, then we decided to build on our own. The timeline is a little bit tight for us to correct all the bugs and connect all the functions on the smart contract. And we had a hard time verifying the contract code on ftmscan, but all the codes are in the GitHub.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We finished the beta version on time! And we are proud of our design. We believe our platform will bring real web2-style earnings to content creators. And our normal users can also see the best content without Ads and nonsense.

What we learned

Talk to people, and learn from others' experiences. Move fast and move early. Built from resources but built differently.

What's next for The Agora & Wiise

Fix bugs on the platform and improve the protocol upon other DID integration. Maybe introduce a DAO module as well.
