The inspiration for ThalAssist came from the real-world struggles of Thalassemia patients and the incredible work done by organizations like Blood Warriors. As someone passionate about using technology for social good, I was moved by the lack of digital tools that connect patients, donors, and caregivers efficiently — especially in India, where awareness and infrastructure are limited.

ThalAssist is an all-in-one, AI-powered digital platform designed to support Thalassemia patients, blood donors, and healthcare providers. It aims to simplify, automate, and empower the entire care journey for Thalassemia through technology.

I focused on creating a solution that was both technically feasible and socially impactful. The development process followed a design-thinking approach, combining research, prototyping, and AI development. Here’s how I built ThalAssist:

  1. Research & Problem Validation
  2. Prototyping the Platform
  3. Building the AI Models
  4. Platform Development
  5. Donation Transparency
  6. Testing & Feedback

Challenges we ran into

I faced several challenges across technical, ethical, and design aspects:

  1. Data Privacy and Sensitivity
  2. Lack of Real-World Datasets
  3. Accessibility in Low-Resource Settings
  4. Building a Responsible AI Chatbot
  5. Managing Scope as a Solo Builder 6.User Trust and Adoption

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This project marks a significant achievement in using AI for real-world healthcare impact. Here are some key milestones I’m proud of:

  1. End-to-End Functional Prototype
  2. Integration of Multiple AI Modules
  3. Ethical AI and Privacy-First Design

What we learned

Building ThalAssist during the AI for Good Hackathon was an inspiring and challenging journey.I gained hands-on experience not just in technology, but in applying AI to solve real human problems.

What's next for ThalAssist: AI-Powered Ecosystem for Thalassemia Care

The journey of ThalAssist doesn't end with the hackathon — it’s just the beginning. The next steps focus on expanding impact, refining technology, and building meaningful partnerships.
