Our inspiration for Thalassic came from watching how item economies work in games like Roblox. Rare items and accounts are frequently traded through unofficial channels such as Discord servers or eBay. Because these trades happen outside the platform, players often share accounts, rely on middlemen, or trust strangers with expensive digital assets.

This creates a constant risk of scams and account theft. A player may spend hundreds of hours earning items, only to lose everything if their account is compromised.

We wondered: what if in-game items didn't depend on trusting a centralized account system at all?

Blockchain offers a different model. Instead of items existing only inside a game's database, they can exist as assets owned directly by the player through a wallet.

Thalassic explores this idea by turning spells and skins into XRPL NFTs. Items are minted on-chain, stored with decentralized metadata, and transferred through wallet signatures rather than account access. This means players don't need to trust a platform or a middleman to prove ownership, the ledger does it for them.
