Inspiration

Thalassemia patients often require lifelong, routine blood transfusions, yet still struggle to find reliable and timely donors .we got Inspired by the efforts of organizations like Blood Warriors and tools like e-RaktKosh, we wanted to create a centralized, AI-driven web platform that could improve the lives of patients by ensuring timely support, better communication, and continuous care.

What it does

Our project, the Thalassemia Support Web Platform, is a web-based system that: 1.Registers patients and voluntary blood donors 2.Automatically matches patients to nearby, likely-available donors 3.Prioritizes urgent cases based on patient health indicators 4.Integrates with e-RaktKosh for emergency blood availability 5.Connects to Blood Bridge to notify local volunteers automatically

How we built it

Frontend: HTML, CSS (Tailwind), and JavaScript (React.js) for a clean, responsive UI. Backend: Python Flask for handling user requests and API interactions. Database: Oracle DB to store user profiles, history, and preferences. AI Model: scikit-learn for a lightweight classifier to predict donor availability. API Integration: Simulated e-RaktKosh and Blood Bridge integration for demonstration.

Challenges we ran into

1.Donor data unavailability 2.API integration delays 3.Balancing simplicity with power 4.Data Privacy & Security Compliance

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1.Building a functioning AI model that can predict donor likelihood 2.Designing a priority-based alert system to handle urgent cases first 3.Creating a user-friendly, accessible UI for both patients and donors

What we learned

1.How to apply AI to real-world health coordination problems. 2.The importance of human-centered design in healthcare solutions. 3.How to design for multilingual and low-connectivity environments. 4.Practical skills in API integration, and donor behavior modeling.

What's next for Thalassemia Support Web Platform

1.Connect with real hospitals and blood banks for live data. 2.Expand our AI to include seasonal trends and community donor behavior. 3.Add a mobile-friendly progressive web app (PWA) mode for better rural access. 4.Launch a pilot program in partnership with NGOs or Blood Warriors.
