Inspiration

We have read some stories of Thalassemia patients after registering for the hackathon. We have watched some youtube videos where they shared their struggles. the constant stress on their faces, the frantic phone calls to find blood, and the life that was put on hold every few weeks. It wasn't just a medical condition; it was a thief of peace of mind.

Reading the problem statement, we connected with it immediately. We were particularly moved by the work of Blood Warriors. We realized the problem wasn't just a lack of donors but a timing mismatch. The panic always happens at the last minute. We thought, "What if we could use technology to get ahead of the panic? What if we could give families a heads-up so finding a donor becomes a calm, planned process instead of a desperate search?" That's the spark that lit the fire for Thala-Mitra.

What it does

Thala-Mitra (meaning "Thalassemia Friend") is a web app (for MVP and eventually will become mobile app) that acts as a personal AI companion for patients and their families. It shifts the entire experience of managing the condition from reactive to proactive.

In simple terms, it does four key things:

1.Predicts Your Next Transfusion: By learning from a patient's past transfusion records, it intelligently forecasts when their next transfusion will be needed, sending an alert to the family more than a week in advance.

2.Finds Donors, Stress-Free: Once a need is predicted, the app seamlessly connects with platforms like Blood Warriors to line up volunteer donors before it's an emergency.

3.Organizes Your Medical Life: It turns that messy pile of paper reports into a clean, digital timeline. Just take a photo of a blood report and our app uses OCR to digitize and track the key health metrics.

4.Connects You to Support: It maps out trusted doctors, transfusion centers and support groups right in the patient's locality, making sure no family feels alone on this journey.
