Inspiration

The problem is connection between the resources and the user. There are so many resources spread out all over the place and not just for youth but for foster parents and aspiring foster parents as well as our providers. It is too often you hear that a youth/parent missed out on one or more resources that could have improved their life situation, in some cases the provider is not even aware of the resources.

What it does

So the approach we took was to create a general app for the provider, parent, and youth, that would lift the weight of knowing what resources are available to youth, foster parents, and providers. It is simple and contains 3 key functions a chat system, a map system, and a documents system. The best part is the app is created with the thought of those who have little to no data access, all 3 features update when data is available so that the data stays accurate as possible. It's design is to work offline. The chat system is designed to keep all users anonymous a user may a question and a user will answer these questions. With every user answer, their occupation will appear so the person asking the question will choose the best answer suited for the question. The user will also be able to filter their questions from everyone else's questions to better ask a specific user if needed. The map system is designed to specify what type of resources they are looking for, then to start with locations near the user’s current location offering these resources within a 10 mile range which can increase with data up to 30 miles. When a building is selected it will show all its information and have a hyperlink for those who ride transit (app Moovit) and for those who drive. (gmaps) The document system function is to take away the search. It is split into three parts youth, parent, and provider. Giving access to all policies, applications, and forms for provider, parents, and youth.
