Inspiration
Working five years as a 2-1-1 housing and community resource specialist showed me how often I was just handing out phone numbers. I wanted to build a tool that helps people use resources, not just receive them, and gives specialists more time to truly connect and guide callers. Resources deserve to be more accessible.
What it does
TGI Connect lets community members text or call to quickly receive verified resources, while giving 2-1-1 specialists a simple tool to find information faster. Callers can also search on their own, saving time for both the public and the specialists.
How we built it
I combined years of 2-1-1 field notes and data research with rapid prototyping in Lovable during this challenge. This let me blend real-world insight with hands-on development to create a working MVP over the course of this event.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was deciding what to build within such a short timeframe. I had to strip the idea down to its core—choosing features that made the tool usable now while setting aside everything that could wait for future versions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud that I learned to use a new no-code tool to streamline my services and turn a complex idea into a clear, concise MVP. For the first time I can explain my concept simply and show it working.
What we learned
I learned the value of focusing deeply on one or two core features instead of chasing everything at once. I also saw how gathering different perspectives makes a tool more practical and usable for a wide range of people. Non-technical is just as important as technical.
What's next for TGI Connect
Next, I’ll finalize core features—starting with full Twilio integration for texting and calling—and use my network to test the tool. I’ll refine the interface and resource database so callers can access help more easily and specialists can work more efficiently.
