Inspiration

I had been thinking for a long time about building a product where people could compete in simple but intense skill-based tournaments, with real progression, elimination-style pressure, leaderboards, and rewards.

The first time I seriously thought about this kind of format was after watching Squid Game. What inspired me was not the theme itself, but the emotional structure: simple games, high attention, clear stakes, and a tournament format that makes people genuinely engaged.

I wanted to bring that type of excitement into a safer, lightweight, Telegram-native product where communities can run skill games, reward active players, and create repeatable tournament events directly inside Telegram.

What it does

TG Skill Games is a Telegram Mini App for skill games, tournaments, leaderboards, referrals, SP rewards, and admin operations.

Players can open the app from Telegram, play quick games, improve their scores, compete on leaderboards, invite friends, and participate in community tournaments. Admins can manage users, scores, SP balances, rewards, tournaments, banners, and operations from a dedicated admin panel.

How we built it

The project was built with Codex as the coding agent inside an OpenClaw-managed local workspace.

Codex helped with gameplay fixes, leaderboard logic, admin tooling, UI polish, tournament operations, deployment preparation, debugging, and production iteration.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was making the product feel like a real live Telegram-native platform, not just a game demo. We had to connect multiple parts: Telegram login context, mobile WebView UX, game scoring, leaderboards, SP rewards, referrals, admin controls, and production deployment.

Another challenge was keeping the experience simple for players while still giving admins enough tools to run real events.

What we learned

We learned that Telegram communities need more than passive content. They need repeatable engagement loops: games, competition, rewards, referrals, and events that bring people back.

Season 0 was already tested with real players and reward distribution, which helped validate that this can become a broader community rewards platform.

What's next

Next, we want to improve tournament formats, add more game modes, strengthen anti-abuse logic, expand reward mechanics, and make it easier for Telegram communities to launch their own branded tournaments.
