Inspiration

The inspiration for this project arose from our experience in immigrating to London to begin our studies at Imperial College. One of the most impactful elements of the city is the transport infrastructure, dictating the movement of people and how they go about their daily lives. When going through the very challenging process of finding accomodation and realized the need to cut cost but also save time in our daily travels to and from campus and other daily activities. This gave us the inspiration to pursue building an online tool to assist people in making more informed decisions and making the process easier and more cost effective.

What it does

Our project essentially displays the house prices across London, color grading the different postcode areas based on how expensive they are. It allows users to define trips to places they visit and calculates the time it takes (using the TFL journey planner API) from their desired potentially residence. Along with this it calculates the earnings costs of the annual time travelled, based on the person's hourly rate.

How we built it

We built the project using Python and the Dash/Plotly framework.

Challenges we ran into

Most of the challenges we ran into were related to the formatting of the front end user interface.
