Inspiration
Education has become more and more expensive; textbooks are a large part of the cost. NETFLIX is our inspiration on making the website.
What it does
Rental is cost effective, but limiting and frankly inconvenient. Offer super cheap subscription of each e-textbook per semester for UMD-STEM students By connecting to the school system, it recommends the textbooks student needed for each course
How we built it
By developing a website using HTML and CSS
Challenges we ran into
Not all team members are proficient with HTML and CSS. All team members are not familiar with database usage on website to store the e-textbooks and login details.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Get to know lovely teammates Built our own website!
What we learned
Understanding the actual problem can lead to breakthrough idea Asking mentors and communicating between team members can avoid lag in project development Use existing resources is the key in developing a website
What's next for TextScription:
Include books from self-published by professors Accommodate textbook exchange between students Provide textbook/learning material access to developing countries and disrupt the cycle of poverty
