Learning about machine learning models for first time and hoping to build a OCR model to read cursive writing

What it does

Had to pivot ideas as the algorithm used to train the OCR did not work. Fed model data to predict onset of diabetes in patients.

How we built it

A lot of documentation and learning. Tensorflow, Keras, Python.

Challenges we ran into

It was a lot harder to extract key data points from cursive writing than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Though I had to abandon the idea, I'm proud of everything I learned

What we learned

A lot about machine learning, data science, and how the basics of how AI works

What's next for uottahack

I'll be back next year with a stronger skill set, and preferably with a group as well
