Textify is an audio messaging app that automatically shortens long voice messages, provides a transcription of the message, and uses sentiment analysis to give visual feedback on the sender's emotions. It also utilizes topic detection to give summarized information to the recipient, allowing them to navigate quickly to specific timestamps in the message through keyword tapping. The app was built using React-native as a front-end framework and Firebase as a database, with a custom back-end API in Python and Microsoft Azure's speech-to-text functionality for natural language processing tasks. The team faced challenges in text summarization, cloud functions debugging, and UI development, but were able to overcome them through custom pipelines and collaboration.
