Inspiration
This product serves to mitigate the universal problem students face when attending a post-secondary institution, to help students find more affordable options for necessary materials
What it does
The web app functions similar to any exchange where anyone who needs a textbook is able to search according to their course code and see all the relevant posts, and if one needs to post a picture, the form allows them to do so. When one searches for course textbook. the system will return all relevant data filtered by the price.
How we built it
Frontend: React Backend: Firebase, Node.js
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the frontend to the backend, and making the website responsive
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing all the functionalities we started out to accomplish including some added features like filtering posts in ascending order of price.
What we learned
We learned a lot about working with React, Node.js and Firebase, as well as how to use Git for collaborative work.
What's next for Textbook Exchange
Textbook exchange can serve as one portal of a student hub and we see further additions of different needs such as an apartment or dorm ratings page.
