Texta - Editor

Hi! I’m Raul Carini, the creator of Texta - Editor, a tool I built out of my love for clean and simple writing experiences. This project started as a way to solve my own frustrations with overly complex editors and turned into something I’m proud to share with others.

🌟 Why I Built Texta

I’ve always wanted a writing tool that combined minimalism with powerful features like markdown and AI. Most editors I tried either felt clunky or were missing features that could make writing faster and more enjoyable. So, I thought, why not create something myself? That’s how Texta was born—a text editor for writers, bloggers, and developers who want a smooth, distraction-free experience.

🛠 How I Built It

As a one-person project, I had to wear a lot of hats—developer, designer, and tester. I used:

• Next.js and React for a snappy, modern interface.
• TipTap for its excellent text editing and markdown support.
• Tailwind CSS to make it look clean and simple.
• Google AI for built-in writing assistance, like grammar fixes, tone adjustments, and content summarization.

💡 What I Learned

• Start Small: I focused on making the core features work before adding extras.
• Stay User-Focused: Every design choice was about making the editor as intuitive as possible.
• Patience is Key: Building custom components to handle streaming generation wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

🚧 Challenges

Being a solo developer, I faced a few bumps:

• AI Assistance: Making AI suggestions feel helpful without being overwhelming was tricky.
• Time Management: Juggling development with everything else in life is always a challenge!
