Inspiration
We originally wanted to make Tetris with 5-square Tetrominoes, but then it was suggested that we have a character avoid said Tetrominoes as they fell. Finally, the idea was broached that we make it a 2-player game, where the two players go head to head.
How I built it
Teamwork and communication. (and Java)
What it does
One player acts as the typical Tetris player and tries to crush the on-screen player, and the other player must avoid the falling Tetronimoes as the game continues on. If either player messes up (death by compression or death by typical Tetris failure) the game ends, and the other player wins.
Challenges I ran into
The main issue was having to deal with the short time frame we had to build it. The other main issue was getting the proper rotation of the Tetronimoes down, as they were skipping around in the order for quite some time.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of the new take we were able to discover on such an old classic.
What We Learned
We learned how to work efficiently under a short time frame and a large amount of pressure.
What's next for Tetris Runner
**Pickaxe function for the player (to break specific blocks and stall the opponent.)
**Support for other platforms (i.e. Android and iPhone/iPad support)
