TethAR

TethAR is a Utility and Training tool for Community Emergency Response Teams. Our initial concept was a tool for bystanders of an emergency situation to receive assistance from first response teams. After interviewing Captain Kent Scarna of the Boston EMS training school however, we came back inspired by its potential in mass casualty events with first responders. We made a pivot - inspired by one of our parents who is part of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and spends time volunteering and training to help out with tasks such as Search + Rescue, Medical, etc. We realized how much of a cognitive overload this was as well as how much of that could be reduced and streamlined with an assistance tool such as AR which still allows them to pay majority attention to the actual disaster scene. Through interviewing this parent as well as reading through the CERT volunteer training guides on Fema.gov we were able to derivee inspiration for our final product and its features.
