Inspiration
E-Scooters are prevalent around UMD, so we wanted to make a game related to them. We had a conversation about how people often place objects at the Testudo statue, and we decided to make a game based on that. The images to pixelated to make it look more retro.
What it does
It is a game where you pick up objects left at the Testudo statue and sell them for money.
How we built it
We built it using Pygame, a python library used for creating games.
Challenges we ran into
Async functions were difficult to control well. Animations were also difficult to implement due to how Pygame works.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished the game in time.
What we learned
We learned how to save Pygame files as executables.
What's next for ScooterScavenger
More upgrades, bonus gameplay, possibly other stuff.
BEST FRIENDSHIP HACK INFO
We are a pair of siblings (Arnav, who is an 8th grader, and Riya, who is a senior at UMD) who had been planning on doing a hackathon together for some time, and took this opportunity. This is Arnav's first Bitcamp ever, and Riya's final Bitcamp as a UMD student, so being able to work on this project was special to both of us. We were able to combine our interests and skills to make something really fun!
